Yakult Honsha European Research Center for Microbiology VOF

Established in Ghent, Belgium in 2005 as a base for the Yakult Group’s global research and development activities.
The Research Center is collecting clinical data overseas and investigating the effects of Yakult's probiotics,
as well as studying the usefulness on intestinal microbiota and the intestinal tract function.

A new base linking us to the rest of the world

In May 2005, Yakult established the Yakult Honsha European Research Center for Microbiology VOF (YHER) as a regional research base in Ghent, Belgium.

YHER and Yakult Europe collaborate in tireless efforts to broaden the effectiveness of Yakult's probiotics.

Yakult's First Overseas Research Institute Supporting Global Business Development

YHER is located in Technologiepark in Ghent, Belgium. Surrounded by a quiet residential area, it is an ideal environment for research activities.

To continue Yakult Honsha's role as a leading company in the field of probiotics, we established this research center in Europe, where the concept of probiotics was born, as a site for research activities. As the main theme of research, YHER and the Central Institute are verifying intestinal regulation such as improving the intestinal microbiota, in order to accumulate scientific evidence on the effects of Yakult's probiotics in Europe. With the accumulation of these data, we hope to establish research bases that will support our global business expansion, not only in Europe, but also in the Americas and Asia as well.
